Dear Sirs,
Commercial Information Circular No. 834/2012
Chile: Energy Consumption Labels for Lightweight Motor Vehicles
The Ministry of Energy of Chile issued Decree No. 61/2012 on 2 August 2012 and Exempt Resolution No. 77/2012 on 17 August 2012 to establish energy consumption labels for lightweight motor vehicles.
2. The energy consumption labelling requirements apply to lightweight motor vehicles, including diesel or gasoline passenger motor vehicles with a gross weight less than 2,700 kilogrammes, excluding vehicles intended for cargo transportation such as trucks and vans. Vehicle models approved since 1 January 2008 and sold for the first time will be required to carry an energy consumption label with fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions information. The label must be placed on the vehicle's windshield at showrooms and remained visible at all times. The information on the label must be part of the instructions of the vehicle, and either be incorporated to the vehicle's manual and/or technical specifications, or attached to those documents.
3. The authorised format and other specifications for energy consumption label for lightweight motor vehicles are established in Exempt Resolution No. 77/2012. The labels must be prepared by the manufacturers, operators, retailers, distributors or importers, or their representatives.
