Commercial Information Circular No. 832/2012

Brazil : Technical Standards or Conformity Certification Requirements for Various Products

The National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (INMETRO) of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade of Brazil issued Decrees in July and August 2012 to establish or amend the following technical standards or conformity certification requirements for various products.

  1. conformity certification requirements for certain personal protection equipments to protect against fall from heights.
      Compliance Date Application Criteria
    (i) 26 January 2014 manufacture and import of such products
    (ii) 26 July 2014 domestic sale of such products by manufacturers and importers
    (iii) 26 July 2015 domestic sale of such products by all other parties
  2. technical standards and conformity certification requirements for metallic cookware for household use (excluding electric cookware and disposable items) .
      Compliance Date Application Criteria
    (i) 13 February 2015 manufacture and import of such products
    (ii) 13 August 2015 domestic sale of such products by manufacturers and importers
    (iii) 13 August 2016 domestic sale of such products by all other parties
  3. amendment of the conformity certification requirements for gas stoves and ovens for household use
      Compliance Date Application Criteria
    (i) 3 August 2014 manufacture and import of such products
    (ii) 3 February 2015 domestic sale of such products by manufacturers and importers
    (iii) 3 February 2016 domestic sale of such products by all other parties
  4. conformity certification requirements concerning the sound power of household electrical appliances.
      Compliance Date Application Criteria
    (i) 20 August 2013 manufacture and import of such products
    (ii) 20 February 2014 domestic sale of such products by manufacturers and importers
    (iii) 20 February 2015 domestic sale of such products by all other parties
  5. amendment of the technical standards for solar water heating equipment as set out in the Brazilian Decree Nos. 301/2012 and 352/2012 or Commerical Information Circulars No. 732/2012 of 11 September 2012
  6. conformity certification requirements for commercial electric ovens. The technical standards of which is set out in Decree No. 371/2012 or Commerical Information Circulars No. 731/2012 of 11 September 2012
      Compliance Date Application Criteria
    (i) 28 February 2014 manufacture and import of such products
    (ii) 29 August 2014 domestic sale of such products by manufacturers and importers
    (iii) 29 August 2015 domestic sale of such products by all other parties
