Commercial Information Circular No. 776/2012

Mexico : Tolerance Requirements and Test Methods for Pre-packaged Products

The Mexican Ministry of Economy published in the Official Gazette (Diario Oficial de la Federación) of 10 August 2012 a new official standard NOM-002-SCFI-2011 concerning the testing and tolerance requirements for pre-packaged products. The relevant notice (in Spanish) is available at:

DETAILS

2. The official standard establishes the tolerance requirements and test methods for verification of the declared net content of pre-packaged products. It applies to both domestically produced and imported goods marketed within Mexico.

3. The official standard will enter into force 60 days after its publication in the Official Gazette. For products produced prior to this effective date, there will be a grace period of six months for re-labelling or re-processing of the goods.
