Brazil : Minimum Efficiency Standard for Incandescent Light Bulbs
The Brazilian Government issued a Decree No. 1007/2010 in December 2010 to establish the minimum efficiency standard for incandescent light bulbs. The manufacture and importation of light bulbs above 100 watts that do not comply with minimum efficiency standard are not allowed after 1 July 2012. Importers and domestic manufacturers, and wholesalers and retailers may continue to sell such products until 31 December 2012 and 30 June 2013 respectively. Light bulbs not meeting the minimum efficiency standard will be removed from sale by 30 June 2017.
