US: Automated Commercial Environment Required for Transmission of Advance Ocean and Rail Cargo Information
The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced in the Federal Register (FR) notice on 29 March 2012 that starting from 29 September 2012, the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) will be the only CBP-approved electronic data interchange (EDI) system for the transmission of advance ocean and rail cargo information to the CBP. 2.The US CBP encouraged all transmitters to undergo the ACE certification process before 29 September 2012. The ACE certification process consists of the systems interface test and the software test to ensure sucessful transmission of data through ACE, and is described in the two FR notices issued on 20 October 2010 and 19 July 2011 respectively, which are available at http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2010-10-20/pdf/2010-26428.pdf and http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2011-07-19/pdf/2011-18089.pdf.
