Mexico : Energy Efficiency Standards for Light-Emitting Diode Lamps
The Mexican Ministry of Energy published in the Official Gazette (Diario Oficial de la Federación) of 22 June 2012 an official standard which establishes specifications for integrated light-emitting diode (LED) lamps for general lighting (NOM-030-ENER-2012). DETAILS
2.The official standard NOM-030-ENER-2012 sets out the efficiency standards (e.g., minimum luminous efficiency, minimum luminous flux maintenance factor and correlated colour temperature), test procedures, sampling requirements and conformity assessment for various types of LED lamps. It also requires the subject products to be marked with specified information including the name or trademark of the manufacturer or distributor, electrical data and the date or code that identifies the period of manufacture etc. As regards packaging, it must contain information including the name of the product, name and address of the domestic manufacture or importer, country of origin, electrical data, type of spatial light distribution, bulb type etc.
3.The official standard will enter into force 60 calendar days after its publication (i.e., 21 August 2012). Products manufactured or imported before this effective date may be marketed within 120 days following publication of the standard.
