Dear Sirs,
Commercial Information Circular No. 478/2012
US : Consumer Product Safety Commission: Proposed Revocation of Certain Requirements Pertaining to Caps Intended for Use with Toy Guns and Toy
Guns not Intended for Use with Caps
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued in the Federal Register (FR) of 25 June 2012 a notice proposing revocation of certain requirements for caps intended for use with toy guns and toy guns not intended for use with caps. Interested parties are invited to submit comments to the CPSC by 24 August 2012. The FR notice is available at: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2012-06-25/pdf/2012-15409.pdf.
DETAILS
2.The CPSC is proposing to revoke its existing banning regulations on caps intended for use with toy guns and toy guns not intended for use with caps, which were included in the regulations under the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. The CPSC is of the view that the banning regulations are obsolete and have been superseded by the requirements of ASTM International Standard F 963: "Standard Consumer Safety Specifications for Toy Safety" (ASTM F 963), which are considered to be the consumer product safety standards pursuant to Section 106 of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA).
