USA : Energy Conservation Program: Test Procedure for Automatic Commercial Ice Makers
The US Department of Energy issued in the Federal Register (FR) of 11 January 2012 a final rule amending the current test procedure for automatic commercial ice makers. The FR notice is available at: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2012-01-11/pdf/2012-218.pdf.

2. Changes promulgated under the final rule include:
3. The effective date of the final rule is 10 February 2012, and the changes will be mandatory for equipment testing starting 7 January 2013.
- updating the industry test procedure references;
- expanding coverage of the test procedure to all batch type and continuous type ice makers with capacities between 50 and 4,000 pounds of ice per 24 hours;
- standardising test results based on ice hardness for continuous type ice makers;
- clarifying the test methods and reporting requirements for automatic ice makers designed for connection to remote compressor racks; and
- discontinuing the use of a clarified energy use equation.
