US : CPSC's Final Rule: Audit Requirements for Third Party Conformity Assessment Bodies
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published in the Federal Register (FR) of 24 May 2012 a final rule establishing requirements for the periodic audit of third party conformity assessment bodies as a condition of their continuing accreditation. DETAILS
2. The final rule implements a section of the Consumer Product Safety Act (CPSA), as amended by the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA). The requirement for periodic audits will affect only third party conformity assessment bodies that intend to provide the CPSIA-required third party conformity assessment services for manufacturers or private labelers of children's products.
3. The final rule is effective 23 July 2012.
