Dear Sirs,
Commercial Information Circular No. 355/2012
US : Energy Conservation Program for Certain Industrial Equipment: Energy Conservation Standards and Test Procedures for Commercial Heating, Air-Conditioning, and Water-Heating Equipment
The US Department of Energy (DoE) published in the Federal Register (FR) of 16 May 2012 a final rule amending its energy conservation standards and test procedures for certain industrial equipment. The FR notice is available at: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2012-05-16/pdf/2012-10650.pdf.
DETAILS
2.In its final rule, DoE is amending the energy conservation standards for small, large and very large water-cooled and evaporatively-cooled commercial package air conditioners, and variable refrigerant flow (VRF) water-source heat pumps less than 17,000 Btu/h. DoE is also adopting new energy conservation standards for computer room air conditioners and VRF water-source heat pumps with a cooling capacity at or greater than 135,000 Btu/h and less than 760,000 Btu/h.
3.In addition, DoE is updating the current federal test procedures (or for certain equipment, adopting new test procedures) to incorporate by reference the most current versions of relevant test procedures specified in ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers) Standard 90.1-2010. Furthermore, DoE is adopting additional test procedure provisions to include with modification certain instructions from the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI)'s operations manuals.
4.The final rule is effective 16 July 2012. Respective compliance dates of the amended or new standards and test procedures can be found in the subject FR notice.
