Dear Sirs,
Commercial Information Circular No. 339/2012
Brazil : Voluntary Conformity Certification Requirements for Information Technology Equipment
The National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (INMETRO) of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade of Brazil issued Decree No. 170/2012 to establish voluntary conformity certification requirements for information technology equipment to ensure compliance with all applicable safety, electromagnetic compatibility and energy efficiency requirements. The conformity certification requirements, effective from 11 April 2012, apply to information technology equipment procured by the Brazilian government or other public institutions, as established by Decree No. 7174/2010 of 12 May 2010.
2. The Decree requires information technology equipment to be certified using certification System 5 or System 7, and carry a Conformity Identification Seal (Selo de Identificação da Conformidade). The conformity certification must be carried out by a Product Certification Body (Organismo de Certificação de Produto, OCP) accredited by the INMETRO.
