Commercial Information Circular No. 280/2012

Argentina : Ban on Baby Bottles Containing Bisphenol-A (BPA)

The Argentine Government has issued a Disposition No. 1207/2012 on 5 March 2012 to ban the manufacture, import and sale of baby bottles containing bisphenol-A (BPA). The Disposition took effect on 6 March 2012, and companies affected have to fully comply with the requirements by 20 April 2012.

2.BPA is an industrial chemical used in the production of polycarbonate, and used in, among other things, baby bottles. As BPA is considered hazardous to children, many countries, such as Canada, the mainland of China, the European Union, the US, have prohibited the use of BPA in baby bottles.
