Commercial Information Circular No. 158/2012

Brazil : Technical Requirements for Microwave Ovens

The trade was informed via Commercial Information Circular No. 125/2012 of 16 February 2012 that the Brazilian Government has established conformity certification requirements for microwave ovens. The National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (INMETRO) of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade of Brazil issued Directive No. 499/2011 to establish technical requirements for microwave oven.

2.To conserve energy and to prevent risks to users, the Directive sets out in its Annex the minimum technical requirements that must be met by microwave ovens, including performance and safety requirements, energy efficiency classes and marking/instructions, etc.
