Commercial Information Circular No. 157/2012
Argentina : Establishment of "Advance Sworn Declaration of Import"
The Argentine Government has issued two Resolutions No. 3252/2012 and 3255/2012 to require the submission of an "Advance Sworn Declaration of Import" (or "Declaración Jurada Anticipada de Importación (DJAI)" in Spanish) to the Federal Administration of Public Revenue (AFIP) prior to the conclusion of their purchase transaction. The Resolutions took effect on 1 February 2012.
2.The information to be submitted in the DJAI include individual taxpayer identification number (or "Clave Unica de Identificación Tributaria (C.U.I.T.)" of the importer or the declaration party, FOB value and relevant currency, the tariff classification ("Posición Arancelaria SIM") or AFIP code, type and quantity of the goods to be imported, state of the goods, country of origin and country of consignment. Certain goods are exempted from the DJAI requirements, such as goods imported under the re-importation procedures, diplomatic exemptions, exemptions from fees and duties, courier or postal shipments, goods to compensate for shipment defects, goods for donations, sample goods, and staggered shipments or turnkey plant approved prior to 1 February 2012.
