US: Energy Conservation Program: Test Procedure for Commercial Refrigeration Equipment
The US Department of Energy published in the Federal Register (FR) of 21 February 2012 a final rule amending its test procedure for commercial refrigeration equipment (CRE). The FR notice is available at: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2012-02-21/pdf/2012-3201.pdf.
DETAILS
2.Amendments adopted in the final rule include:
updating references to industry test procedures to their current versions;
incorporating methods to evaluate the energy impacts resulting from the use of night curtains and lighting occupancy sensors and controls;
allowing testing of certain CRE at the lowest temperature at which it is able to operate; and
incorporating provisions to allow manufacturers to test at the rating temperatures and ambient conditions required by NSF International for food safety testing.
3.The effective date of the final rule is 22 March 2012.
