US : FDA's Guidance Documents on Food Facility Registration; Deadline for Food Facility Registration Renewals

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently issued two guidance documents on food facility registration.

DETAILS

2.The two documents are entitled "What You Need to Know About Registration of Food Facilities; Small Entity Compliance Guide" and "Questions and Answers Regarding Food Facility Registration (Fifth Edition)". They are available at FDA's website: http://www.fda.gov/Food/GuidanceComplianceRegulatoryInformation/ GuidanceDocuments/default.htm.

3.Among others, the documents note that the legislation requires relevant food facilities to renew their registrations with FDA during 1 October - 31 December of each even-numbered year. However, given the delay of the registration renewal cycle for 2012, which began on 22 October 2012, FDA intends to exercise until 31 January 2013 enforcement discretion with respect to registration renewals submitted after 31 December 2012.
