Dear Sirs,
Commercial Information Circular No. 834/2011
US : Correcting Amendments to the Appliance Labeling Rule Relating to Light Bulbs
The Federal Trade Commission issued in the Federal Register (FR) of 21 December 2011 technical corrections to the Appliance Labeling Rule (16 CFR part 305) ("Rule") relating to light bulbs. The FR notice is available at: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2011-12-21/pdf/2011-32261.pdf.
DETAILS
2. The Commission published in the FR of 19 July 2010 (earlier FR notice) a final rule adopting amendments to the Rule. The trade was informed of the developments via Commercial Information Circular Nos. 328/2010 of 20 July 2010 and 288/2011 of 13 April 2011.
3.The Commission found that two amendatory instructions in the earlier FR notice were not consistent with current provisions of the Rule, and thus revised the Rule's language to ensure its accuracy. In addition, the Commission also corrected an inadvertent error in the definition of "incandescent lamp", in which the diameter of reflector lamps should read "exceeds 2.25 inches" instead of "exceeds 2.75 inches" (§ 305.3(n)(1)(ii)).
