Dear Sirs,
Commercial Information Circular No. 812/2011
US : Energy Conservation Program for Certain Commercial and Industrial Equipment: Test Procedures for High-Intensity Discharge Lamps
The US Department of Energy (DoE) issued in the Federal Register (FR) of 15 December 2011 a proposal to establish test procedures for high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975, as amended. The DoE will accept public comments of this proposed rule no later than 28 February 2012. The FR is available at: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2011-12-15/pdf/2011-32162.pdf.
DETAILS
2.The proposed test procedures are based on industry standard procedures and practices already established by relevant bodies. The proposed procedures would include measurement of parameters to enable calculation of lamp efficacy, provide for the efficiency measurement of directional lamps using center beam intensity (in candelas) and beam angle, measure lumen maintenance at 40 percent and 70 percent of rated lamp lifetime. Correlated color temperature and color rendering index would also be measured as potential means to delineate equipment classes for HID lamps.
3.The DoE intends to publish any final HID lamp test procedures by 1 January 2013.
