Brazil : Extension of Compliance Dates for Mandatory Product Safety Certification Requirements for Automotive Wheels

The trade was informed via Commercial Information Circular (CIC) No. 259/2011 that the Brazilian Government has established mandatory product safety certification requirements for automotive wheels. The National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (INMETRO) of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade of Brazil issued Decree No. 362/2011 to extend the deadline for automotive wheels to be sold in Brazil to comply with the certification requirements in accordance with the Decree No. 445/2010. 2.The revised compliance dates will be 1 January 2013 for the manufacture and import of such products; 1 July 2013 for the domestic sale of such products by manufacturers and importers, and 1 January 2015 for the domestic sale of such products by all other parties.

3.For details of the extension of compliance dates, traders are advised to consult their importers in Brazil and/or the above Brazilian Decree.
