Commercial Information Circular No. 364/2011

Colombia : Reduction of Import Tariffs on Various Products

The Colombian Government has reduced the import tariffs of a number of products. A summary of the changes are set out as follows:

  1. Import tariffs of certain plastics articles and machinery and equipment classified under the Colombian Harmonized System (HS) codes 3917.23.9000, 3917.31.0000, 3917.32.9900, 3917.33.1000, 3917.33.9000, 3926.90.3000, 3926.90.4000, 3926.90.9090, 8428.10.9000, 8428.20.0000, 8428.32.0000, 8428.33.0000, 8428.39.0000, 8504.21.1900, 8504.22.1000, 8504.31.9000 and 8504.33.0000 have been reduced by 50% from 2 March 2011 until 16 August 2015.
  2. Import tariffs of certain motor vehicles and parts thereof classified under HS codes 8707.90.9000, 8708.30.2500, 8708.30.2900 and 8708.92.0000 have been reduced by 50% from 13 May 2011 until 16 August 2015.
  3. Import tariffs of certain machinery and equipment classified under HS codes 7308.40.0000, 8413.60.1000, 8413.60.9000, 8413.70.2900, 8413.82.0000, 8426.20.0000, 8429.11.0000, 8429.19.0000, 8429.20.0000, 8429.30.0000, 8429.40.0000, 8429.51.0000, 8429.52.0000, 8429.59.0000, 8430.10.0000, 8464.90.0000, 8474.20.2000, 8474.31.1000, 8474.31.9000, 8474.32.0000 and 8479.10.0000 have been reduced to zero with effect from 13 May 2011 for a year until 12 May 2012.
  4. Import tariffs of certain motor vehicles and trailers and semi-trailers classified under HS codes 8704.10.0010, 8704.10.0090, 8716.31.0000 and 8716.39.0090 and certain motor vehicles covering tankers classified under HS codes 8704.31.9010, 8704.31.9090, 8704.22.1000, 8704.22.2000, 8704.22.9000, 8704.23.0000, 8704.32.1010, 8704.32.1090, 8704.32.2010, 8704.32.2090, 8704.32.9010, 8704.32.9090, 8704.90.0093, 8704.90.0094, 8704.90.0095 and 8704.90.0099 have been reduced to zero with effect from 26 May 2011 for a year until 25 May 2012.
