Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 287/2011

US : CPSC's Final Rule to amend its Bicycle Regulations

The trade was informed via Commercial Information Circular No. 500/2010 that the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued in the Federal Register (FR) of 1 November 2010 a proposed rule to amend its bicycle regulations. Taking into account the comments received, the CPSC has made minor changes to the proposed rule and issued in the FR of 13 May 2011 a final rule to amend the existing bicycle regulations at Title 16, Code of Federal Regulations, part 1512 (16 CFR part 1512) to reflect new technologies, designs, and features in bicycles by clarifying that certain provisions or testing requirements do not apply to specific bicycles or bicycle parts. The final rule will be effective from 13 June 2011. For details of the amendments, please refer to the FR notice, which is available at: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2011-05-13/pdf/2011-11742.pdf.
