US : Updated Guidance on Special Use Codes for the Lacey Act Declarations

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has posted the "Guidance on Plant and Plant Product Special Use Codes" related to the US Lacey Act declarations on its website. Details are available at http://www.aphis.usda.gov/plant_health/lacey_act/index.shtml.

DETAILS

2.The APHIS has posted on its website the "Guidance on Plant and Plant Product Special Use Codes" for the Lacey Act declarations for imported plants and plant products. This new guidance consolidates three previous guidance documents, namely "Guidance on Special Use (or Species) Codes", "Guidance on the Usage of Common Trade Groupings" and "Guidance for Filing Declarations for Composite, Recycled, and/or Reused Materials". The list of Special Use for filling the PPQ Form 505 and the relevant explanation for the codes has also been updated.

3.Traders are advised to visit the above APHIS website for the latest information regarding the Lacey Act. Traders are also strongly advised to seek clarifications with their importers in the US in order to comply with the necessary requirements.
