US : Final Rule to amend the Labelling Requirements for Lamp Products

Further to the proposed rule mentioned in Commercial Information Circular No. 13/2011 of 5 January 2011, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued in the Federal Register (FR) of 12 April 2011 a final rule to extend the effective date from 19 July 2011 to 1 January 2012 for its new light bulb labelling requirements applicable to all general service lamps, i.e. medium screw base incandescent, compact fluorescent (CFL), and light-emitting diode (LED) products. The FTC also exempts the incandescent bulbs that will not be produced after 1 January 2013 due to federal energy efficiency standards from the new labelling requirements.
