Argentina : Non-automatic Import Licensing Requirements
The Argentine Government has developed a comprehensive non-automatic import licensing system on a range of products such as textiles and apparel, luggage, handbags, footwear, household products, machinery and tools, tires and tubes, auto parts, paper products, bicycles, toys, motorcycles, and certain miscellaneous articles, etc. The product list is subject to modifications from time to time and traders were informed via Commercial Information Circulars (CIC) No. 234/2007 of 12 June 2007, No. 394/2007 of 26 October 2007, No. 622/2008 of 10 December 2008, No.297/2009 of 9 June 2009, No. 581/2009 of 16 November 2009 and No. 134/2010 of 25 March 2010 of the changes.
2.In February 2011, the Argentine Government issued a Resolution (No. 45/2011) to announce several amendments to the existing non-automatic import licensing system. The Resolution (in Spanish) is available at:

- b.the non-automatic import licensing system applies to evaporative units (internal) and condensing units (external) of split-system air conditioners (classifiable under NCM code 8415.90.00) with a capacity no higher than 30,000 BTU/hour; and
- c.shipments of the above products already in a customs zone in Argentina or in transit to the country as of 7 March 2011 are exempted from the licensing requirements. Any exemptions will lapse if an importer does not file an import application for that product by 6 May 2011.
