Argentina : Reinstatement of the Prohibition on Imports of Worn Clothing

The Argentine Government has issued a Decree (No. 2112/2010) to re-instate the prohibition on imports of worn clothing and other articles classifiable under Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) Common Classification (NCM) codes 6309.00.10 and 6309.00.90 from 1 January 2011 to 31 December 2015, in accordance with the provisions of the Argentine Resolution No. 367/2005. 2.The aforesaid import prohibition had been in place from December 1991 to 30 June 2010. In view of health considerations and to avoid commercial distortion, the Argentine Government has re-instated the import prohibition starting from January 2011 for five years. However, imported donations of used clothing for government use or religious purposes are exempted from the prohibition as set forth in the Argentine Resolution No. 892/1993 which is available at

3.For details of the prohibition, traders are advised to consult their importers in Argentina and/or the above Argentine Decree/Resolutions.
