Commercial Information Circular No. 629/2010

Colombia : Reduction of Import Tariffs on a Number of Products

The Colombian Government has recently reduced the import tariffs of a wide range of products. The new tariff rates have become effective on 5 November 2010. A summary of the major changes are set out as follows: 

  1. The import tariffs of certain textiles and clothing products (classifiable under Chapters 50-63 of the Colombian Harmonized System (HS)) reduced from 20% to 15% or 10% or from 15% to 5%.
     

  2. The import tariffs of certain footwear (classifiable under HS Chapter 64) reduced from 20% to 15%.
     

  3. The import tariffs of certain electrical machinery and equipment (classifiable under HS Chapter 85) reduced from 20% to 15% or from 15% to 5%.
     

  4. The import tariffs of certain toys (classifiable under HS Chapter 95) reduced from 20% to 15%.
     

  5. The import tariffs of certain motor vehicles (classifiable under HS Chapter 87) reduced from 20% to 15% or from 15% to 10%.
