Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 411/2010

US : Countervailing Action against Aluminum Extrusions from the Mainland of China : Preliminary Affirmative Countervailing Duty Determination

The US Department of Commerce (DoC) announced in the Federal Register (FR) notice of 7 September 2010 the preliminary affirmative determination that countervailable subsidies were being provided to producers and exporters of aluminum extrusions from the Mainland of China. The countervailing duty rate was found to be in the range of 6.18% - 137.65%. The final countervailing duty determination will be issued no later than 15 November 2010. A copy (pdf format) of the FR notice is appended to this circular for reference. On 16 June 2010, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) issued its preliminary affirmative determination that there is a reasonable indication that an industry in the US is materially injured by reason of imports from the Mainland of China of aluminum extrusions.

  1. If the final determination of the DoC is affirmative, the ITC will make its final determination on whether an industry in the US is materially injured, or threatened with material injury, by reasons of imports of aluminum extrusions from the Mainland of China within 45 days after the DoC's final determination.
