US : CPSC's Notice to Invite Comments on a Petition requesting for Standards restricting Cadmium in Children's Products
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued in the Federal Register (FR) a notice of 19 August 2010 to invite comments on a petition requesting the CPSC to issue regulations to establish standards restricting cadmium in children's products, especially toy metal jewelry, and to ban toy metal jewelry containing more than trace amounts of cadmium by weight which could be ingested by children. The petitioners also request the CPSC to develop specific test methods to test the level of cadmium in such products. The FR notice is available at http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2010/pdf/2010-20599.pdf. Interested parties may submit comments in response to this notice to the CPSC by 18 October 2010.
