Dear Sirs,
Commercial Information Circular No. 343/2010
Argentina : Authorised Conformity Assessment Bodies to Certify Compliance with Ban on Phthalates in Toys and Childcare Articles
Traders were informed via Commercial Information Circular No. 608/2009 of 7 December 2009 that the Argentine Government required that imports of relevant toys and childcare products should be accompanied by a technical report prepared by the Centre for Technological Research and Development of the Plastic Industry of Argentina to certify that such products do not contain any of the banned phthalates.
-
Recently, the Argentine Government issued a Resolution No. 806/2010 in May 2010 to allow conformity assessment bodies authorised by the Organismo Argentino de Acreditación (website: http://www.oaa.org.ar/200504/index.html) to certify toys and childcare articles made of flexible materials as in compliance with the phthalates ban.
-
For details of the Argentine requirements, traders are advised to consult their importers in Argentina and/or the relevant Argentine Resolution (in Spanish) which is available at: http://infoleg.mecon.gov.ar/infolegInternet/anexos/165000-169999/167329/norma.htm.
