US : CPSC Detention of Products at Import - Frequently Asked Questions

The trade was informed via Commercial Information Circular No. 292/2010 of 23 June 2010 that the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is implementing the use of its detention authority under the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) and issues notices of detention of products at import for suspected violations of the laws and regulations administered by the CPSC with effect from 14 June 2010. In this regard, the CPSC has published a set of frequently asked questions (FAQs) providing further information on the detention procedures. The FAQs can be found at the website of the CPSC at http://www.cpsc.gov/BUSINFO/detentionFAQ.pdf .
