Argentina : Non-automatic Import Licensing Requirements

The Argentine Government has developed a comprehensive non-automatic import licensing system on a range of products such as footwear, paper products, bicycles, household goods, toys, tires and tubes, motorcycles, textiles and apparel, machinery and tools and certain miscellaneous articles, etc. The product list is subject to modifications from time to time and traders were informed via Commercial Information Circulars (CIC) No. 234/2007 of 12 June 2007, No. 394/2007 of 26 October 2007, No. 622/2008 of 10 December 2008, No.297/2009 of 9 June 2009 and No. 581/2009 of 16 November 2009 of the changes.

  1. In the past few months, Argentina announced the following amendments to the non-automatic licensing regimes for auto parts, miscellaneous goods and tires. Details of the arrangements and products involved can be retrieved from the relevant Argentine Resolutions available from the following webpages:

  • Resolution on amendment to the non-automatic import licensing requirements for certain printed matters, electromagnetic ballasts and centrifugal pumps (effective from 13 November 2009):

  1. Traders are advised to approach their importers in Argentina for further information or clarification of the relevance of the above measures to their exports to Argentina, if necessary.
