Brazil : Modification of Import Tariffs on Various Products
The Brazilian Government has recently modified the import tariffs on a range of products. A summary of the changes are set out as follows:
Import tariffs of certain capital goods and information technology and telecommunications products have been temporarily reduced to 2%. The temporary measure is effective from 18 May 2009 to 31 December 2010.
Certain steel products have been removed from the list of exceptions to the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) external tariffs from 5 June 2009 and are now subject to 12%-14% most-favoured-nation (MFN) import tariff rates.
