Argentina : Delay Implementation of Lead Content Restrictions on Paints,
Lacquers and Varnishes
Traders were informed via Commercial Information Circular No. 78/2009 of 11 February 2009 that Argentina would impose restrictions on paints, lacquers and varnishes with a lead content higher than 0.06 % by weight of the total non-volatile content of the product. The restriction would come into effect 90 days after the publication of the relevant resolution. The Argentine government recently announced that it would delay the implementation of the restriction according to the following schedule:
for imports of affected products, on or about 24 August 2009;
for domestic production, on or about 18 November 2009;
for marketing, on or about 29 June 2010.
