Argentina : Non-automatic Import Licensing Requirements

The Argentine Government has all along maintained a non-automatic import licensing system on a range of products such as footwear, paper products, bicycles, household goods, toys, tyres and tubes, motorcycles, certain yarns, fabric and apparel products, machinery and tools and miscellaneous manufactured articles, etc. The product list is subject to modifications from time to time and traders were informed via Commercial Information Circulars (CIC) No. 234/2007 of 12 June 2007, No. 394/2007 of 26 October 2007 and No. 622/2008 of 10 December 2008 of the changes.

2. In the past few months, Argentina announced several amendments to the existing non-automatic licensing regimes for certain textiles and apparel, machinery and tools and household goods, and introduced new licensing requirements for imported tires, certain miscellaneous products and certain screws. Details of the arrangements and products involved can be retrieved from the relevant Argentine Resolutions available from the following webpages:
