Standard Operating Procedure for Determining Total Lead (Pb) in Non-Metal
Children's Products
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) posted on 26 March 2009 a document dated 1 February 2009 entitled "Test Method: CPSC-CH-E1002-08 - Standard Operating Procedure for Determining Total Lead (Pb) in Non-Metal Children's Products" to its website at http://www.cpsc.gov/about/cpsia/CPSC-CH-E1002-08.pdf. The document provides detailed information on the test method that will be used by the CPSC's testing laboratory (Laboratory Sciences, Division of Chemistry (LSC)) in the analysis of non-metal children's products for lead (Pb) content. As specified in its footnote, the document was prepared by CPSC staff, has not been reviewed or approved by, and may not necessarily reflect the views of, the CPSC. A copy (pdf format) of the document is appended to this circular for reference.
