US : Revised Labeling Requirements for Wool and Cashmere Products
The US Government has recently revised certain labelling requirements for wool and cashmere products by introducing the Wool Suit Fabric Labeling Fairness and International Standards Conforming Act (H.R. 4583) ("the Act"). The Act was enacted to amend the Wool Labelling Act of 1939 to include the definition of superfine wool designations and a definition of cashmere. It aims to protect consumers and industry from deceptively labelled or mis-labelled wool or cashmere products by establishing a legal standard for labelling superfine wool and cashmere products. The Act applies to wool products manufactured on or after 1 January 2007. Interested parties may download the Act from the website of the US Government Printing Office at:
