Dear Sirs,
Commercial
Information Circular No. 395/2007
Brazil
: Duty Increase for Imports of Textiles, Apparel and Footwear
The Brazilian Government
has increased the most-favoured-nation (MFN) import duty rate for textiles,
apparel and footwear. The new measure has been effective from the day
of publication, i.e. from 28 September 2007.
DETAILS
-
The Brazilian
Government approved earlier this year an increase in the MFN duty
rate for certain imported textile, apparel and footwear products.
The increase entered into effect from 28 September 2007 after the
recent approval by Brazil's Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) partners.
Specifically, the MFN duty rate for certain apparel, textile made-ups
and footwear (excluding footwear parts) has been increased from 20
percent to 35 percent while the rate for most textile fabrics has
been raised from 18 percent to 26 percent.
