Dear Sirs,
Commercial Information Circular No. 302/2007
US : Adjustments of 2007 Import Limits for Quota Categories under the US/Mainland Memorandum of Understanding on Textiles
The US Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements (CITA) has issued a Federal Register (FR) notice to announce the adjustment of 2007 import limits of the 34 categories of textile and apparel products covered by the US/Mainland Memorandum of Understanding concerning Trade in Textile and Apparel Products (MOU) with effect from 8 August 2007. A copy of the FR notice is at Annex (pdf format).
DETAILS
-
The US/Mainland MOU signed by the US and the Mainland on 8 November 2005 has established import restraints for 21 groups involving 34 categories of Mainland-origin textiles and apparel products for a period of 3 years starting from 1 January 2006. Pursuant to the MOU, quota limits during a particular year could be increased by carryover (i.e. borrowing quotas from the previous year) and/or carryforward (i.e. borrowing quotas from the following year). As stated in the above-mentioned FR notice, the 2007 quota limits for the 34 categories of textile and apparel products concerned are increased for carryover starting from 8 August 2007. Traders may refer to the FR notice for details on the adjusted quota limits and our Commercial Information Circular No. 463/2005 issued on 10 November 2005 for more information on the MOU.
