Brazil: Imposition of quotas on certain Chinese textiles and clothing imports
The Brazilian government has recently announced that it had reached an agreement with Mainland China which would limit the imports of the following eight types of Chinese textiles and clothing (T&C) imports for the period from 3 April 2006 to 31 December 2008:
- corduroy and other weft pile cotton fabric;
- cotton embroidery and badges
- knit shirts and blouses, including T-shirts (all fibres);
- polyester filament textured yarns;
- selected synthetic fabrics;
- synthetic fibre woven apparel, including jackets, trousers, shorts, etc.;
- sweaters (all fibres); and
- selected silk fabrics.
