Commercial Information Circular No. 131/2006

Colombia : Imposition of tariff-rate-quotas on certain Chinese textiles and clothing imports

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 443/2005 dated 28 October 2005, the Colombian Government has terminated the safeguard investigations and suspended the provisional safeguard measures against certain Chinese textiles and clothing (T&C) imports. Anti-dumping investigations is being pursued instead.

  1. During the course of anti-dumping investigations, the Colombian Government has imposed temporary measures in the form of tariff-rate-quotas (TRQs) on some Chinese products including the following:
  1. woven unbleached or bleached fabrics, dyed fabrics, or printed fabrics;
  2. knitted or crocheted synthetic fibre curtains or drapes;
  3. woven towels;
  4. woven fabric of yarns of different colours; blue denim; and
  5. bed linen, tablecloths, quilts, other bed articles.

The TRQs are established for 90 days starting from 7 March 2006.
