Dear Sirs,
Commercial
Information Circular No. 314/2005
Mexico
: Review on Anti-dumping Action against Denim originating in Hong Kong
The Mexican Government
published a notice in the Official Gazette on 26 July 2005 announcing
the initiation of a review on the antidumping action against denim from
Hong Kong. A copy of the gazette notice in Spanish and an unofficial
English translation is appended (pdf
format) to this circular for reference.
DETAILS
- Since 9 September 1991, definitive anti-dumping duty of US$1 per
kg has been imposed on imports of denim of 85% cotton or more originating
in Hong Kong. The measure was last extended on 11 August 2000 for five
years subsequent to a review and is scheduled to expire on 10 August
2005. In response to the requests of its domestic industry, the Mexican
authorities have decided to initiate a review to determine whether the
elimination of duty will result in the continuation of dumping and injury
to the domestic industry. The review period covers January to December
2004. The current antidumping duty will remain in force pending the
outcome of the review.
- Companies who
may have an interest in the outcome of the review are invited to make
representations to the Mexican authorities within 28 working days of
the publication of the gazette notice, i.e. by 2 September 2005. Details
and requirements of the submissions are set out in paragraphs 15 and
16 of the notice.
