US :CBP Issues Informed Compliance Notice concerning Phase Two Enforcement of the Bioterrorism Act

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 310/2003 dated 22 December 2003, the US Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a notice announcing that Phase Two of the discretionary enforcement plan of the Prior Notice (PN) requirement of the Bioterrorism Trade Act (BTA) has been implemented on 12 March 2004 and will run through 12 May 2004. A copy of the notice (1 page) is at Annex (pdf format).

  1. In addition, the FDA has recently posted to its website a set of revised questions and answers (Q&As) regarding registration of food facilities. A copy of the Q&As can be found at http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/ffregui3.html.
