Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 295/2004

US : Air Cargo Security Requirements

The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has recently announced in the Federal Register (FR) notice on proposed rulemaking of Air Cargo Security Requirement. TSA is inviting interested parties to comment on the proposed rulemaking.

DETAILS

  1. The proposed rulemaking would require the adoption of security measures throughout the air cargo supply chain. These security measures will be applicable to airport operators, aircraft operators, foreign air carriers, and indirect air carriers. TSA proposes, among others, to require each foreign air carrier landing or taking off in the US to adopt and carry out an appropriate security program for each covered all-cargo operation.

  2. In view of the bulkiness of the FR notice, the document is not annexed to this circular. Interested parties may wish to download the FR notice from the US Government's website at http://www.regulations.gov/fredpdfs/04-24883.pdf. Hard copies are also available at the Information Counter on G/F of the Department.

  3. Interested parties may send their written comments by mail, fax, or in person, on or before 10 January 2005, to the Docket Management System, U.S. Department of Transportation, Room Plaza 401, 400 Seventh Street, SW., Washington, DC 20590-0001; Fax: 1-202-493-2251. You may also submit your comments electronically through the docket website at http://dms.dot.gov or through the Federal eRulemaking portal at http://www.regulations.gov.

  4. For further information or enquiry on the above proposed rulemaking, please contact Tamika McCree, Transportation security Administration, Office of Transportation Security Policy (TSA-9), 601 South 12th Street, Arlington, Virginia, 22202, (1-571-227-2632), or at email address: tamika.mccree@dhs.gov.
