Commercial Information Circular No. 255/2003

US: 24-Hour Rule on Submission of Advanced Sea Cargo Information

In order to assist the trade community to better understand the requirement under the 24-hour rule on submission of advanced sea cargo information, the US Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has made available useful information on its website (http://www.cbp.gov). Such information includes a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section that provides technical and operational details of the 24-hour rule. The CBP will update the FAQs section as well as other relevant information as and when required. The latest update was made on 7 October 2003. Traders are encouraged to visit CBP's website from time to time to obtain the latest information.
