Commercial Information Circular No. 172/02
US : Open Enrolment of "Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism" Programme to Brokers, Freight Forwarders and Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 137/02 dated 24 July 2002, the US Customs announced that membership for the "Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism" (C-TPAT) programme would be extended to brokers, freight forwarders and non-vessel operating common carriers with effect from 26 August 2002. C-TPAT is a new initiative introduced by the US Customs to strengthen overall supply chain and border security. The programme is currently open to importers in the US as well as carriers.

  1. Interested parties may refer to the US Customs website (http://www.customs.gov) for details on application procedure, agreement to voluntarily participate, security profile questionnaires for each specific sector in the supply chain. For further information about the programme, interested parties may approach Messrs. Edward Moriarty and William Ferrara, officers responsible for C-TPAT in the US Customs, at 1-202-927-0520 or by email at industry.partnership@customs.treas.gov.
