Commercial Information Circular No. 100/96

Argentina :New Certification Arrangements for

Certain Products Produced in the People's Republic of China (PRC)

We have just received information from the Consulate General of the Argentine Republic that all PRC products under HS Chapters 51-64 (i.e. textiles, garments and footwear) exported via Hong Kong and arriving Argentina before 30 September 1996 must comply with some specific requirements. Details of the requirements are at Annex.

  1. In addition, the Argentine Consulate has also informed that for PRC products under HS Chapters 51-64, a new certification arrangement would be introduced after 30 September 1996 : the PRC products in question would have to be accompanied by a Chinese Certificate of Origin verified and certified by the Argentine Consulate in Beijing. As regards the re-exports of the above products via Hong Kong, the Argentine Consulate in Hong Kong is now seeking clarification as to whether the Certificate of Origin Re-export now being issued by Hong Kong Government Approved Certification Organizations (GACO's) will have to be certified by the Consulate in Hong Kong.
