Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 335/2005

Notice to Exporters : Series 1 (USA) No. 9/2005

US : Classification change of Disposable Foot Socks

The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) invites comments on its proposed change in the classification of "disposable foot socks".

DETAILS

  1. Under the existing classification, items identified as "disposable foot socks" and made up of 100 percent nylon knit fabric are under subheading 6307.90.9889 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) of the US. CBP proposes changing the classification of these disposable socks to HTS subheading 6115.93.9020. The proposed change would increase the tariff rate on imports of disposable foot socks from the current 7 percent to 14.6 percent.
  1. A copy of the CBP's relevant notice is at Annex (pdf format) . As stated in the notice, comments on the proposed change can be addressed to CBP on or before 9 September 2005. Traders may also contact Greg Deutsch, Textiles Branch of CBP at 1-202-572-8811 for further information or enquiry on the proposed change.
