Dear Sirs,

Notice to Exporters:

Textiles Trader Registration Circular No. 1/2003

Declaration of Weight in Kilograms (Kg)  on
Textiles Export Licence Applications and Export Notifications I (ENI)

Introduction

At present, the units of quantity for exports of Hong Kong origin textile products to non-restrained markets are mainly declared on textiles export licence applications or on Export Notifications I (EN I) in accordance with that those specified for the relevant products in the Hong Kong Imports and Exports Classification List (Harmonized System). Traders are requested to note that, as from 1 March 2003, additional information on weight in kilograms (kg) will be required for exports of Hong Kong origin textiles to Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, the Slovak Republic and Slovenia, to facilitate monitoring of these exports.

Declaration of Weight on Textiles Export Licence Applications and EN I

  1. With effect from 1 March 2003, exporters of Hong Kong origin textiles to the countries named above are required to provide the total weight of the goods in "kg" at the "No. of Units" column in the textiles export licence applications and ENI.  The information is to supplement the "No. of Units" where it is expressed in units other than "kg". The declared weight should be the actual weight of the textile products concerned, i.e. excluding the weight of any packaging materials. If a consignment comprises more than one range of products (e.g. boys' and men's garments), the breakdown of weight for each range of products should be separately listed. An illustration of the additional declaration of weight is at the Annex.
