Trade Statistics
The Mainland of China, the United States of America and Germany were the top three leading traders in world merchandise trade in 2023, with the trade values of US$5,937 billion, US$5,192 billion and US$3,151 billion respectively. Their corresponding shares in world total trade were 12.4%, 10.8% and 6.6%.
The Netherlands ranked the fourth in total trade of the world (accounting for 3.7%) and Japan ranked the fifth (at 3.1%) in the same year. This was followed by France (at 3.0%), Italy, the United Kingdom and Korea (all three at 2.7%), Hong Kong# (at 2.6%), Mexico (at 2.5%), Canada (at 2.4%), Belgium and India (both at 2.3%) and United Arab Emirates^ (at 2.0%).
In 2023, Hong Kong ranked the fourth largest traders after the Mainland, Japan and Korea in the region. Total trade value of Hong Kong was US$1,228 billion, accounting for 2.6% of world total trade at US$48,018 billion.
