Hong Kong's Values of Re-exports by Main Origin, 2023
The top three origins of Hong Kong's re-exports in 2023 were the Mainland, Taiwan and Korea. The values of re-exports originated from them were HK$1,883.8 billion, HK$650.7 billion and HK$290.0 billion respectively. Their corresponding shares of the total re-exports values in the year were 45.8%, 15.8% and 7.1%. When compared with 2022, the value of re-exports originated from these top three origins all went down, at the rates of 9.5%, 8.0% and 11.2% respectively.
In 2023, Japan (with re-exports values of HK$189.2 billion or 4.6% in share) ranked the fourth origin and the United States of America (USA) (HK$148.2 billion or 3.6% in share) ranked the fifth. Comparing with 2022, the re-exports values originated from Japan went down by 7.5% and that from the USA rose by 6.7%.
The other major origins of Hong Kong's re-exports in 2023 included Viet Nam (HK$129.6 billion or 3.2% in share), Malaysia (HK$119.0 billion or 2.9%), India (HK$84.7 billion or 2.1%), Thailand (HK$84.4 billion or 2.1%) and France (HK$57.0 billion or 1.4%). Comparing with 2022, decreases were registered in the re-exports values originated from Viet Nam, Malaysia and Thailand by 3.4%, 28.0% and 21.8% respectively. On the other hand, the re-exports values originated from India and France increased by 27.5% and 2.7% respectively.
